Elle-louise Burguez, Painter & Musican:
Colour is everything to me. Through mixing pastel pinks, bright vermilion reds and cobalt blues, my mood can be uplifted and my mind hushed.
I love to intuitively create by tapping into my truest self, letting ideas flow quickly and without overthinking.
What do I wish to say with my art?
You can take from my work what you please.
I guess, I am exploring thousands of thoughts and emotions throughout the creation of my paintings.
For now I will say: Let go. Act from the heart, always coming back to love. Be playful and bright, allowing yourself to feel every emotion that comes up, no matter what colour it is.
I wish to bring myself and the viewer back to a sense of peace and a place of wonder.
Hi Elle, welcome to the Woman Of Series! Can you tell us what it is you create?
I create dreamy, colourful paintings on canvas and paper. My paintings are full of objects, furniture, flowers and many more things. Sometimes I am inspired by ancient Persian or Indian artwork, and sometimes just be ordinary life. It is always flowing and changing.
Talk us through your creative process. How do you reach your signature style?
Over around 8 years I have developed my own style of painting. Bright colours have always been my focus and a sense of aesthetic that is pleasing and calming to my eye. It has been a very intuitive and playful process that has led me to my signature style. I create worlds I want to be in or daydream in. Colour is everything. Exploring different parts of the world has inspired me, as well as exploring my own psyche and what brings me simple joys and inspiration.
What is your big hope and dream for your work?
My biggest dreams include holding my own sell-out art show in Australia and in Paris, painting very large works, painting the cover of Vogue magazine, creating children's books, for my work to always fulfil and enrich my life, and for my paintings to make other people feel GOOD.
What are your top 3 superpowers?
Unconditional love, my wild imagination and my power to be in touch with the Spiritual world.
We’re all about women inspiring women. Who inspires you?
I am inspired by SO many women. At the moment: Cassi Namoda, my best friends, my mum, Zoe Kravitz, Joni Mitchell, Stevie Dance, Sade, Sailor Mars.
What advice would you impart on the next generation of women?
Always come back to love, use your senses to remain in the moment, ask your belly when making tough decisions, remain playful and bright, laugh every day, swim in the ocean, be kind to animals, be kind to our planet, be kind to yourself, be kind to everyone around you and continue to learn and create everyday no matter what.
